Private parties can be booked at other times by telephoning 01424 420555 or email Student groups must pre-book their tour by using the same number or email. Hastings Old Town has more medieval and Tudor buildings than most other British towns. Many are hidden in twittens and cat creeps, often unseen by tourists. There are also many fine Georgian and Victorian buildings. Many of these buildings have fascinating histories. Artists including Turner, Constable and the Pre-Raphaelites delighted in the local scene, and it provided a haven for such authors as Dickens, Thackeray, the Rossettis and modern writers such as Catherine Cookson. It is also a town steeped in history, going back to long before 1066 and forward beyond its front-line position in the Second World War. Walks can be themed to suit group interests, and times, duration and starting / finishing places can be all be arranged to suit groups’ requirements.
