Schools

Welcome all Teachers!

If you are planning a visit to the Hastings Fishermen’s Museum you will find materials to support your visit such as our Education Pack, Quizzes and a Risk Assessment which are free to download on the website drop downs.

If you would like to just bring your students to walk around without any support from our staff we would suggest a minimum donation of 50p per student.

For a full experience of the museum and the surrounding area we can give your students a talk. We encourage younger students to have questions prepared as we’ve found this helps make the talk more engaging for them. This can be on board the Enterprise. We usually cover how the museum used to be a church and how fishing has changed from the age of sail to the modern day boats, the characters we’ve had in Hastings over the years such as Biddy the Tubman. We also touch on fishermen and smuggling.  Usually talks last between 15 to 30 minutes. Please have a chat with us for what your requirements are. We do have some props such as a sou’wester and boots. For a talk we suggest a minimum donation of £30. Please contact us to discuss your visit needs.

Donations are very important to us as we rely entirely on donations and profits from our shop to keep us going, so thank you for any contribution you make.

All resources are available on the drop down tabs.

Please contact us before arriving so we know to expect you, particularly around June/July as we get very busy with school visits and the museum can become overcrowded.

We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful museum.
