Carol Service 2021

Unfortunately Covid 19 is going to stop our fun again this year . We have been advised to err on the side of caution and prepare for a big celebration next year!

September 2021

Wow! What a summer it’s been! It’s been wonderful to see all our visitors, new and old, through our doors and supporting us by donating and buying gifts.

Even though the summer holidays are over, we’re having wonderful sunshine and there’s plenty to see and do. There are still guided walks until October. All details here; OHPS Original Guided Walks – Old Hastings Preservation Society

We have new stock in including Art cards and magnets by local artist Tracey Konyu; Steve Peak’s latest book The America ground; Senlac Jack by Adrian Bowd and we have Blue Stevens 2022 calendar in stock for £8

We look forward to seeing you all soon!

August 2021 Update

We hope this update reaches you in good health.

Old Town Carnival Week was officially opened this morning with the flag being hoisted and festivities could get under way.

The OHPS are hosting various events through the week and running their usual Old Town and Stade Walks. Unfortunately the Lost Roads and Lost Pubs East & West tickets have now all sold out.  You can get an online programme here: https://www.oldtowncarnivalweek.co.uk/events/

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all our visitors and supporters since our doors reopened in May. It’s been wonderful to see so many of you come through the doors at the museum and the History House.

Lastly, we are very pleased to be selling Steve Peak’s new book The America Ground in the museum, History House and also from our online shop https://www.ohps.org.uk/products-page/product-ohps/the-america-ground-hastings-by-steve-peak/

That just leaves us to say, have a fabulous Old Town Week, stay safe and see you soon!

Doors Opening 17th May!

Anyone who has been down to Rock-a-Nore will have noticed activity around the museum. The Valiant RX90, in our external exhibition space, has been diligently worked on by a dedicated volunteer. We are very grateful for all his hard work and care in restoring this beautiful boat. You can see the result in these photos.

We are aiming to reopen our doors on the 17th May. An auspicious date as the Fishermen’s Church, the Church of St. Nicholas, reopened as a museum in 1956.

Times and final details will be confirmed nearer the time. We will really see you soon!!

Old Town Carnival Week 2021

There is every possibility Old Town Carnival Week will be able to go ahead this year  with the usual great variety of events. It will be different to a ‘normal’ OTCW and we’ll know more nearer the time.

For the time being we will carry on as normal.

Below is a form for completion to have an entry in the programme.  If you are a business and would like an advert in the programme this year please contact Anne Scott at ohpscontact@gmail.com in the first instance.

We will let you know any information as it comes to us.

Thankfully the days are getting longer and it is indeed uplifting to see the sun at last. We have the Spring Newsletter for you. It was written before the Government’s Road Map was revealed and we are delighted to see that it’s possible our doors could be open again in May! It’s such a long since we’ve seen you all so we’re looking forward to seeing you! Stay safe and see you in May!

Updates for 2021

Happy new year to you all and welcome to 2021! Unfortunately not much different to 2020 so far as we’re all in lockdown but here’s hoping that our doors will be open for summer!

We have not planned a Walk schedule for either the Old Town or Stade Walks. We will wait until life after lockdown is clearer.

Don’t forget you can visit our online shop or email us hastingsfishermensmuseum@googlemail.com, we may take a little longer but we are here. Christmas cards are still available for £3 for a pack of 8 cards as well as other wonderful products.

Stay safe and we’ll let you know when we can open again safely.

Merry Christmas and wishes for a better 2021!

Hastings is now in tier 4. This means we have to close the museum again. We’re still around online, you can email us, you can buy from our shop via the website (if you know we sell something and you can’t see it just drop us an email) you can even make donations via the PayPal button.

This has been devastating news for us, and all of Hastings, after having some of the lowest numbers of Covid-19 cases in the country. We were really enjoying welcoming our visitors back in a Covid safe way and thank each of you for adapting to the new ways.

We are looking at opening our doors again by February 2021 – keep checking our social media. Until then please keep in touch, stay safe and have the best Christmas and New Year that you can. Best wishes from all the museum team!
