Newsletter – September 2020

Seems a long time since we’ve had a Newsletter from the OHPS due to the enforced closures of the Fishermen’s Museum and the History House. Both are now open but with reduced hours so please do check the website and social media for the current opening times as they are changing from month to month and are subject to change at short notice.

As the winter draws closer we need our wonderful visitors to support us. Our usual Christmas cards and Blue Stevens calendar are available from the Museum, History House and our online shop, along with other gifts and souvenirs. Please contact us hastingsfishermensmuseum@googlemail.com or ohpscontact@gmail.com for further info or help

Sadly there are no events to announce but lots of interesting goings on which can be viewed in the newsletter below.

Some highlights:  Wonderful photos from carnivals in the past on page 2 and page 3 shares interesting transcribing work Anne has been doing during the lockdown months on the coastguard records from 1931-1970. Click on the Newsletter below for more!

Please click on the links below to view all four of the Newsletter pages. September page 1   September page 2 September Page 3 September page 4

The Museum was bequeathed a new watercolour
by W.H. Borrow recently which is a welcome addition. We will be hanging soon, watch this space…

As we were unable to take people on guided walks for Heritage Open Days we explored the theme of Hidden Nature and discovered many links in our area that we hope people may not have known about and discover these places with us via PowerPoint.

If you enjoyed any of these please help support us by donating via our button on the Welcome page. Thank you.
